Of course, John F. Kennedy blazed the trail for Catholics. But it has taken nearly 50 years for another Catholic to follow him to victory on a national ticket. This time, the issue was not whether the candidate would adhere too closely to the dictates of the Catholic hierarchy. More like the opposite: Biden had to weather some serious criticism from bishops about his views on abortion (and his bad theology on the subject).Personally, I find it downright embarassing that the only Catholic the American people could muster for Vice President is one who demonstrated his complete theological and moral incoherence on television and was in turn publicly chastised by the Bishops of the United States.Biden’s home town, Scranton, Pa., became a national emblem of the fight for Catholic votes. Scranton’s bishop, Joseph Martino, said he would deny the Eucharist to Biden and took many other steps to condemn not only the Obama-Biden ticket but Catholics who supported it. Lackawanna County went to the Democratic ticket, 62 percent to 36 percent - the bishop’s effort to sway voters failed. In Lackawanna County, as in the nation, a majority of Catholics supported the Obama-Biden ticket.
Too bad we couldn't have done better.

It is real sad indeed...as a Roman Catholic, isn't it odd that the Pentocostal VP candidate was more in line with the Bishop of Rome and the cathecism than the "Catholic" from Scranton.
Please pray for our bishops as next week, the again face the problem of pro-abortion Catholics.
The majority of Catholics in this country voted for Obama and Biden. The chaffeured over fed bishops - who are completely out of touch with the daily struggles of Catholics trying to put food on the table for their children - were given their answer and given it good. Living their lavish lifestyles, thc church hierarchy have forgotten that people need to be able to make a basic living, to receive a decent wage to feed their children. How refreshing to hear Obama tell people it was their duty to help others, instead of the drill baby drill we heard at Palin rallies and the awful booing of Obama from those rich old white folks at McCain's concession speach. Congrats to McCain for putting their hatred in its place. Our own hierarchy also appear to have forgotten: the people are the church. And their flock has spoken. Will they listen? Of course not. That would be kind of too Catholic.
"The chaffeured over fed bishops ... And their flock has spoken. Will they listen?"
Sorry, that's not how it works. You must have the Church confused with some protestant denomination.
"How refreshing to hear Obama tell people it was their duty to help others ..."
Except, of course, for the most vulnerable among us. They'll get to have their skulls scissored at taxpayers' expense.
"Daily struggles of Catholics trying to put food on the table for their children."
Actually, children can't be fed when they aren't allowed to live. The majority of Catholics (in name only) voted for Obama and Biden. I applaud the Bishops' efforts and am saddened by the fact that any Catholic would vote for an abortion fanatic, as it has been accurately expressed. Abortion kills babies and hurts women! Unfortunately drill, baby drill will still be heard- except now it will be associated with what happens to full term babies when the ban on partial- birth abortion is lifted by the next President when he signs the FOCA.
As Martin Luther King wrote:
In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
The silence of Catholics who voted against Church teaching and against protection of all human life.
brendan,
The majority of Catholics in this country voted for Obama and Biden.
The majority of "Catholics" who don't go to mass voted for Obama. The majority of Catholics who do go to mass voted for McCain.
I wish that Catholics who don't go to mass weren't the group with more electoral pull -- but one can hardly claim their support for Obama was based on their Catholic sensibility when they can't even trouble themselves to receive the Body and Blood of our Savior, who died for their sins.
How refreshing to hear Obama tell people it was their duty to help others
Well gee, the Church has only being saying that for 2000 years or so... The difference is, that at places like my parish's St. Vincent de Paul office we actually do that on a daily basis -- whereas others like to use the words while patting themselves on the back that they voted for politicians who will do the all the "caring" for them with someone else's while they keep their own.
Your insults against our bishops are a disgrace. They know more of the real work of caring for the poor and vulnerable than any politician ever will.
“The USCCB meets soon to discuss "practical and pastoral implications of political support for abortion." Will the scandal of Sen. Biden be addressed? Probably not…”
Unless… WE square off the USCCB.
How? Repeating: “Is not possible to serve two Lords…” We must study the defeat in Colorado of the abortion ban, BECAUSE THE USCCB INCOMPETENT CATHECHESIS, lighting this scientific fact-open-market:
WOMBS FOR RENT (Charity: call a spade, spade, JP II).
Case in point: if one of the less confused in the Gospel of Life, but obsessed in demeaning himself putting as an equal the nobody-little-professor Kmiec (as most Catholic media), and afraid to ruffle politicians feathers as Abp. Cheput...
He calls formal-direct abortion lawmakers Biden: “distinguished career in public service”, and Pelosi a: “fine public servant”, instead of cold blooded murderers.
So, the real battle is to be expected from us, lay Roman Catholics.
Now now folks. We can finally come together as Catholics. As Zippy put it to Catholics who voted for Obama/Biden: How can we help?
I acknowledge that this is going to be a difficult transition for Catholic supporters of Obama. Now that he has become the President-elect y'all have the difficult job ahead of turning on a dime. As long as it was a matter of Obama vs. McCain you had the wind of proportionate reason in your sails; but now the seas are dead calm, and soon the winds of justified action will be a-blowing the other way.
Now that we have a President elect, you see, there is no longer any justification for remote material cooperation in his wicked policies. Justified remote material cooperation with evil may have (I think it objectively did not, but lets set that aside) made it possible to choose him over McCain; but now we have the absolute condition of a chosen President. If proportionate reason ever existed for remote material cooperation with his evil policies before the election, they no longer do now. Now your obligation is reversed, as I alluded to earlier. Now your obligation is to oppose his evil policies with all your heart, mind, and strength; all the more so because of your choice to vote for him.
But not to worry. This is a burden we can all bear together. When it comes to opposing Obama's policies on abortion, ESCR, gay "marriage", and other strains of wickedness, you can count on us, that is, those of us on the unreconstructed socially conservative side of the house. Yesterday we may have been political enemies, but today there is no longer any justification for that; which is to say, your justification for opposing us no longer obtains. We must all come together in unequivocal support of the criminalization of abortion, criminalization of the medical cannibalization of embryos, and the banishment of fictions like "gay marriage" from any form of public legitimization: we must come together because opposition to the legality of those things is not politics but doctrine, doctrine to which we all owe religious and intellectual assent. Byegones being byegones, disagreement over proportionate reasons in the Presidential election now a figment of the past, we must all come together.
Indeed, we no longer have any excuse for not coming together. And those of us who were not on your side in the electoral contest are here to help you discharge your grave obligation to publicly oppose Obama on all those things, without hesitation or equivocation or tergiversation.
I don't understand Catholics who behave as if abortion were the only thing God cared about. What about Catholic social justice teachings? No women enjoys having an abortion, and surely in a more just society, fewer women would resort to it. Obama and Biden hope to reduce the number of abortions by reducing the need for them, rather than by throwing people in jail. Good for them. And I don't understand this attitude that Catholics must all march in lockstep and think the same way on every issue like brainwashed drones. Catholics are just as smart and just as capable of critical thinking as anyone else. I respect Joe Biden for following his conscience rather than someone else's orders. I believe he represents the very best and most important values of Catholicism, and I'm proud to have voted for him. Heck, I might even go to church this Sunday just to say thanks.
I don't understand Catholics who behave as if abortion were the only thing God cared about.
We also care about the evils of embryonic stem-cell research, euthanasia, the fiction called gay marriage. See. y'all won. Good on ya mate. Go for all the social programs you want. We can debate those all day. But here is the kicker--Catholics for Obama were all like, "Hey! I'm against abortion, but Obama is more than just abortion." Well, now he's here and there is an obligation for those who justified that vote to follow through and oppose Obama on those policies contrary to faith. Any rationalizations to dodge this duty means one is a partisan hack and not a Catholic. The onus is on the Obama voting Catholics to put their money where their mouth is.
Any rationalizations to dodge this duty means one is a partisan hack and not a Catholic.
How ironic, accusing others of partisan politics, while at the same time applying a political litmus test to determine who is and is not a Catholic.
Mother Teresa was, of course, opposed to abortion. When asked about it she said, "If you hear of someone who does not want to have her child, who wants to have an abortion, try to convince her to bring the child to me. I will love that child, who is a sign of God's love." She also said, "I don't want to talk about what should be legal or illegal."
If only more Catholics had her attitude! In some pro-lifers one can't help noticing a certain lack of humility, a smugness, a certain to judge, and a slowness to offer a helping hand, that is in stark contrast with Mother Teresa's meek and generous nature.
What about Catholic social justice teachings?
You mean these social justice teachings?
"Above all, the common outcry, which is justly made on behalf of human rights -- for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture -- is false and illusory if the right to life, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition for all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination" (Christifideles Laici, 38).
"Laws which authorize and promote abortion and euthanasia are therefore radically opposed not only to the good of the individual but also to the common good; as such they are completely lacking in authentic juridical validity. Disregard for the right to life, precisely because it leads to the killing of the person whom society exists to serve, is what most directly conflicts with the possibility of achieving the common good" (Evangelium Vitae, 72).
She also said, "I don't want to talk about what should be legal or illegal."
Which means only that she didn't want to talk about it at the time. So I'm not really sure what your point is.
Unless you are trying to argue that Mother Teresa would be opposed to making abortion illegal? But that would be false. Mother Teresa also said this: "Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being's entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The right to life does not depend, and must not be declared contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign."
So, was Mother Teresa a good Catholic? She didn't spend her time waving signs, writing letters and telling people who to vote for. Her first response to abortion was not to wag her finger in judgement, but to extend a helping hand to needy women. That, to me, seems like the Christian response.
Honestly, I have no problem with the priesthood being all male, but when it comes to this issue it does seem to me that the male clergy lack a certain perspective. Not their opposition to abortion but the way they express it.
Darwin - you are incorrect in saying the majority of Catholics who go to mass went for McCain. This was split evenly. McCain won the majority of church goers, but this statistic was heavily influenced by Protestants who backed McCain. Catholic Republicans were quick to push the stat that the majority of good, mass going Catholics supported McCain. It was of course the latest in a long line of propaganda spouted by Catholic Republicans. What chance of the truth when lies like this are spread? It is worth nothing that Bush won the mass going Catholics by 12 points the last time. Just shows how much the mass going flock stopped listening to these 50 Republican Bishops.
Plus if you need a source for the mass going stat, here you go:
http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2008/11/06/obama-made-inroads-with-religious-vote/
So, was Mother Teresa a good Catholic? She didn't spend her time waving signs, writing letters and telling people who to vote for.
Mother Teresa was the founder of the Missionaries of Charity. Her vocation was to live the charism of her order and the apostolate that stemmed from it, i.e. "giving wholehearted and free service to the poorest of the poor."
Bishops, and priests in union with their bishops, have, by their ordination, the duty, the authority, the vocation and the apostolate to preach the Gospel for the sake of the salvation of souls. This includes preaching about the moral teachings of the Church and how they are to be applied to life. And that includes teaching what the duties of Catholics are, even if those duties are to be carried out in the voting booth.
The laity, as Vatican II makes clear, have their own vocation, their own apostolate. "They exercise the apostolate in fact by their activity directed to the evangelization and sanctification of men and to the penetrating and perfecting of the temporal order through the spirit of the Gospel. In this way, their temporal activity openly bears witness to Christ and promotes the salvation of men. Since the laity, in accordance with their state of life, live in the midst of the world and its concerns, they are called by God to exercise their apostolate in the world like leaven, with the ardor of the spirit of Christ" (Apostolicam Actuositatem, 2). Applying and making known their faith through their political activities is part of this.
One cannot accuse Mother Teresa of failing to live up to her aposolate. But one can certainly accuse many of the laity in the United States of failing to live up to theirs. That Mother Teresa's apostolate was not the laity's does nothing to excuse us, the laity, of our failure.
brendan,
Next time, consult a source that gives a number. What the CS monitor describes as "slitting the vote" was a difference of 55% - 43%. McCain carried mass-going Catholics by twelve percentage points. That's only "splitting" in the most loose sense of the term.
Source:
http://www.zenit.org/article-24180?l=english
(I don't recall where I'd originally seen the statistic, but the Zenit article quotes the same exit poll numbers I saw.)
The split between church-going and non-church-going Catholics has been around for quite some time and only gets larger as time goes by.
But do feel free to continue rejoicing in how "the flock" ignores the bishops -- it does a good job of exemplifying your view of the Church.
Brenden, the Church is the Body of Christ whose head IS Christ. God became man to establish a kingdom, NOT a demokratia.
God's setup is a Kingdom - NOT a demokratia. YOU and I do NOT get to vote! We get to OBEY God as His holy bishops have instructed us. Otherwise, we repeat the mistake of the children of Israel in 1st Samuel 8 when they choose Saul over Samuel and his two sons. The Lord told Samuel that it wasn't him whom they rejected, but Him. We have done the same by rejecting McCain and Palin.
Now look at the social teachings of Jesus - really LOOK. When Jesus confronted the rich man, He told the rich man to give up his wealth to the poor and follow the Kingdom (not the demokratia) of God. Jesus NEVER told His disciples to confiscate the man's wealth and redistribute it to the poor. Jesus NEVER said that Caesar (government) has the authority to take away the rich man's wealth and redistribute it to the poor. Rather, the giving MUST be voluntary. Socialism is NOT social justice, as you will find out with an Obama presidency.
Now the Bible says to seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto thee. You don't get prosperity BEFORE repentance, but rather, AFTER repentance. Furthermore, the Bible doesn't say steal from those who produce to give to those who don't produce. God is first. The Cross is the vertical beam of loving God with all our hearts and the horizontal beam of loving our neighbor as ourselves. The Gospel of Jesus Christ cannot be replaced with the Gospel of social justice. You don't get to take my income and give it to those who don't work. St. Paul says in 2nd Thessalonnians about those who don't work, "No work, no food". It's that simple.
Furthermore, unless babies born and unborn come first our society is doomed, no matter how much wealth you redistribute. Sarah Palin, a Pentecostal, understands this. But YOU, Brendan, would rather be dissuaded by the spirit of antichrist. 1st John Chapter 2 says in the last days there will be many antichrists. We've had a few big ones like Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and Hitler. Now we get a little one - a Chicago gangsta - who won't stop trying to be in the big leagues as he signs into law FOCA. How blind can you be? Well, the Bible also says that God will allow people to deceive themselves in these last days. Sad, very sad.
Darwin, you're right - many are called but few are choosen and the pathway to righteousness is narrow. Jesus loves everyone, but very few love Jesus.
It is truly shocking to me that someone posting on a Catholic board can call Barack Obama the antichrist. Most of the Catholics at my church voted for Obama. Sorry, the Republicans don't give a hoot about the problems of women, children, and immigrant families. They apparently don't even give a hoot about the woman they chose to be Vice-President. Please remember that you, anti-choice Catholic, do not speak for me, a devout Catholic. You do not have the right to question my Catholicism, my love of Jesus, my sorrow at the world's sufferings. I am tired of this dialogue. If you want to have people take you seriously, do not call Joe Biden a fervent pro-abortionist. That is ridiculous and people stop listening. Take your passion and your angry and go feed some hungry families. You tire me.
"Heck, I might even go to church this Sunday ..."
from the mouths of morons ...
Colleen wrote:
Please remember that you, real Catholic, do not speak for me, a pseudo-Catholic.
I, for one, as a Roman Catholic, remember that it was the Romans that handed Jesus over to those that heralded His presence in Jerusalem that day and promptly nailed Him to a cross as a common criminal.
We, in groups, are not above other humans in groups that persecute, as well as failing to clothe the naked, bring comfort to the sorrowing, feed the starving, etc.
I am proud that Joe Biden has been by Barack Obama's side, and will continue in serving all citizens of the US, as a Catholic. Catholics are Christians first. 'I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.."
It is very interesting to me that research has definitively 'proven' that there is a correlation in greater numbers of young women become pregnant after watching TV shows that display immoral sexual situations, as well as occasion of infidelity, and this is on the regularly available ordinary TV programming... So, where are we, now, in providing authentic alternatives? Where are we in providing opportunity for acceptable teen-ager choices between watching TV and doing something more productive and advantageous in leading our young people? Home, we are, whining ad nauseum about 'not Catholic enough', 'traditional Masses', and other superficial issues that do not address the needs of humans. What is the ratio of numbers of those who rail about abortions vs. actual time spent in front of the little black box (TV)? Where is the improved access to educationally sound programs, that teach WHY saying 'no' (i.e. abstinence) is a totally viable alternative to sex? Did you see that some bishop made his case against abortion using his knowledge of biology, that there are no longer trimesters in fetal development? What kind of moronic mass hysteria is going on?
Odd that even after victory, Biden supporters still manage meltdown.
Thank you Colleen and others for reassuring me that pro-Obama does not mean pro-abortion. I enjoy the blessings and fruits of the Eucharistic table and am also a political junkie. Please, don't consider this sarcastic, but in what published speech in the past 18 months of this campaign did McCain directly say he would actively work to repeal Roe v. Wade? (It may not be much, but I think working within the system is less threatening and often more effective than name-calling and denouncing the veracity of the faith of a fellow child of God just because he/she votes for Democrats and....horrors!!! may even be a Democrat!)
A message to all Obambabot Catholics from your "Messiah":
"Supports a Woman's Right to Choose:
Barack Obama understands that abortion is a divisive issue, and respects those who disagree with him. However, he has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women's rights under Roe v. Wade a priority as President. He opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court's decision in that case."
http://change.gov/agenda/women/
Stand up tall and proud for the role you played in helping to preserve open season on children in the womb. Have a great time explaining that on the Last Day when you stand before the real Messiah.
Colleen,
Until Joe Biden puts the unborn first, then all his promises to feed the born mean nothing.
Furthermore, Barack Obama's support of FOCA (Freedom of Choice Act) demonstrates unequivocally that he is possessed by the spirit of the anti-christ. No Catholic in good standing could ever vote for such a person. No Catholic who did vote for such a person can eat and drink of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ without eating and drinking damnation to her soul - THAT'S YOU.
Jesus said to His disciples that the poor you will always have with you and you can do good to them anytime you want, but you won't always have Him.
The gospel of social justice is NOT the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Marxists like Obama and Biden believe in killing the weakest and most innocent members of society - the unborn - so that they can live as they wish. Such Marxists believe that it is right and correct to redistribute wealth from those who produce to those who don't. This is contrary to what Jesus commanded. Jesus told the rich man that he had to voluntarily give up his wealth. He never told His disciples or Caesar to take the rich man's wealth away from him.
I for one am sick and tired of so-called Catholics who are subservient to Marxism espousing the false doctrine of the Gospel of social justice. You want social justice? Well, you're about to get it from God Almighty. If we persist in murdering the unborn, then the born do not deserve to prosper. God did it to the children of Judah when they rebelled against Him. God will do it to us.
Remember: prosperity comes after, NOT before repentance.
As to my going out and feeding the poor, I do that by participating is a 12 Step group. How many 12 step meetings have you been to in a prison? How many hungry drunks have you fed on a Sunday morning? How many drug addicts have you transported to the rehab?
You social justice people are disgusting. We who are truly Catholic worship JESUS CHRIST, not the false god of economic prosperity. We live in the KINGDOM of God, NOT a demokratia! You and I don't get to vote. We get to OBEY our holy bishops. Don't like that? Then get OUT OF the Catholic Church and join the liberal Episcopalians.
Darwin - the Zenit article is clearly sloppy journalism, interpresting the church going vote as the mass going Catholic vote. The credibile news organizations have it split evenly as in 50/50. Obviously the official numbers will come out soon but I think you need to qoute some credibile sources and not wishful thinking on the part of Fidelis. CSM also do not mean 54-45 is an even split - they are speaking 50/50.
Brenden, if you're a Catholic you had better be attending Mass regularly; otherwise your religion means nothing to you and you don't rate the descriptor Catholic. The Zenit article is right on and the reporting from the Marxist news media that you revel in is disinformation at best. Further, if say 64% of so-called Catholics voted for Obama / Biden, then we know that only 36% are faithful to the Magisterium and rank being called true Catholics.
By the way, the majority of the children of Israel in 1st Samuel Chapter 8 told Samuel they wanted a king because Samuel's sons were corrupt (according to them). Being depressed, Samuel told the Lord and the Lord said that it wasn't Samuel whom they rejected, but the Lord. So the children of Israel got King Saul and what a disaster that was!
Personally, I don't give a hoot what a majority of so-called Catholics WANT. The Church is not a Demokratia. It is the Body of Christ. Jesus came to establish a KINGDOM, not to give you a vote. Obey the Bishops and BE Catholic. Disobey and be a part of the Episcopalians or Unitarian Universalists or some other horse manure heretical group defiant of our Lord Jesus Christ.
You know, in the end, Jesus wins. The Beast and the False Prophet are cast into the Lake of Everlasting Fire. I just have visions of this - seeing where Obama and Biden are going! ;-) OK, I'm bad - that's not nice, but boy, it's sure vision-worthy! ;-)
Well Anonymous, try a Catholic newspaper then for the stats on mass going Catholics - see link below.
Plus your version of Catholicism is like something out of the Left Behind novels. The Catholicism I know is one of humility and does not revel in people burning in fires. There's a a couple of Evangelical religious organisations that might suit your viewpoints better. Oh then again, I think that's you on another thread comparing real Catholicism to some of these groups.
As for listening to bishops, a minority of bishops told us to vote for the Republican party. Sorry but as an old church going lady said to me today: no bishop will tell me how to vote.
And that doesn't make me or her a bad Catholic. It makes the bishops poor advertising mouthpieces for political parties.
http://www.catholicstarherald.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2687:voters-split-on-obama-mccain-by-religion-religious-practice&catid=102:latest-news
Brendan,
A vote for an abortionist like Obama is a vote AGAINST humility. You liberals defy the authority of our bishops and then have the unmitigated gall to say that those of us who do obey don't have your humility?
No bishop will tell you how to vote? Is that what you say? Grab some humility before judgment day comes and God's wrath descends on your head for supporting an abortionist.
This isn't about Republicanism vs Demokratia. This is about OBEDIENCE. You don't get to have a vote. You get to obey and be grateful to have the freedom to obey.
I agree: you're neither a good nor a bad Catholic simply because you are NOT Catholic period. A true Catholic would vote against Obama and Biden. Now go join the gay-marriage, women priest Episcopalians and take your heretical ways with you.
This article:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081110/ap_on_go_pr_wh/obama
says Obama will use executive powers for embryonic stem cell research.
You stupid liberals. This man is going to use unborn babies as experimentation platforms. How much more antichrist can you possibly get? Our bishops told you to vote against him and you didn't. Do you think God will stay His mighty hand of justice when unborn babies are being dissected for research in order to keep reprobates like Obama and Biden alive?
The Bible said in the last days things like this will happen. But Jesus wins in the end. The King of Humility will be the King of Everlasting Justice. I for one cannot wait. Our redemption draweth nigh!
As an unemployed, uninsured Catholic who is struggling to keep his family afloat, I have this to say:
I'd rather go the rest of my life scrambling to make ends meet than cast a vote for butchers like Obama/Biden.
I'm all for health care, but not when ripping the limbs off of babies is considered health care.
Steve is a true Christian - a real Catholic. If he lived in my hometown, then I would do anything in my power to help him.
Speaking of which, a fellow member of the K of C was in dire straights and needed a place to stay until he could get his home sold back in his home town some 13 driving hours away and move his family to the town where I live. Of course I offered him my humble apartment without charge. But first, I ensured that I found out what was more important to him: unborn babies or social justice Marxist style. Needless to say, he too voted AGAINST Obama / Biden. Some might think it unfair of me to use that as a criteria for helping someone else out, but the principle is real simple: if you don't put unborn babies first, then don't expect one red cent from me. You can die in your rejection of God's Law. The wages of sin are death. It's that simple.
Now if you don't believe that, then read the story of the 10 virgins in Matthew 25:1-13 (this was before the story of the sheep and goats in Matthew 25:31-46 that the liberals, without really understanding it, love to quote so much). Five virgins were wise and got extra oil for themselves. Five were liberal demokrats and lazy (of course, the text doesn't say "liberal demokrats", but you get the point). The ones without oil - the liberals - begged the ones with oil to share, and the ones with oil said that to do so would leave them without enough for the bridegroom's arrival. So the ones without oil - the liberal demokrats - had to go out and buy some oil, and by that time the bridegroom had come, the five wise virgins were in his house and the door was locked. Now what does Scripture say?
"Afterwards the other virgins came and said, 'Lord, Lord, open the door for us!' But he said in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.'"
The point of the story is this: no handouts for liberal demokrats who are unprepared for the bridgroom. Repent and get your hearts right with Jesus NOW. Go to confession and repent of voting for Obama and Biden. Beg God's forgiveness for placing your own comfort ahead of a baby's right to life. Receive God's love, and THEN be like the five wise virgins.
Accept God's love NOW or get God's wrath on judgment day.
This was posted at a different web site, but it sure does apply:
"Is the problem America, or the extreme liberalism that has taken over America? In the same way, is the problem Christianity, or the extreme liberalism that has taken over Christianity? If an evil alien force has occupied the bodies and minds of your loved ones, do you leave your loved ones to be destroyed, or do you try to drive out the alien force?"
To all you Obama / Biden supporters, Luke 13 applies:
23
Someone asked him, "Lord, will only a few people be saved?" He answered them,
24
"Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough.
25
After the master of the house has arisen and locked the door, then will you stand outside knocking and saying, 'Lord, open the door for us.' He will say to you in reply, 'I do not know where you are from.'
26
And you will say, 'We ate and drank in your company and you taught in our streets.'
27
Then he will say to you, 'I do not know where (you) are from. Depart from me, all you evildoers!'
28
And there will be wailing and grinding of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves cast out.
29
And people will come from the east and the west and from the north and the south and will recline at table in the kingdom of God.
30
For behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last."
Of course, 1st Kings 18:40 is a bit more blunt:
40
Then Elijah said to them, "Seize the prophets of Baal. Let none of them escape!" They were seized, and Elijah had them brought down to the brook Kishon and there he slit their throats.
-----
Justice is coming to Amerika for having voted for abortionists as President and Vice President. Like it or not, justice is coming because God LOVES unborn babies.
1 Timothy 1:19: Some, by rejecting conscience, have made a shipwreck of their faith.
And that, folks, is exactly why we have abortionists as the President-elect and Vice President-elect.
A few comments up, I wrote about how I was struggling as an umemployed father, but that I could never vote for a pro-abortion candidate.
I'd like to provide a little update, particularly for those who argue that pro-lifers and conservatives only work to protect life until birth, but are shamefully lacking compassion after.
I have been involved with 40 Days for Life this year. At our victory rally this Saturday, I was talking to a man who asked what I did for a living. I told him that I was out of work, that times are tough, but we are getting by. Ten minutes later, he approached me with a 50 dollar bill and said "Take care of that little boy of yours." I tried to protest, but it became clear to me that it meant as much to him to give us this help as it did for us to receive it. As a result, we were able to afford a new car seat as my son had grown out of his previous one.
